Independent technology leadership for ambitious businesses who need help scaling.

Growth exposes every technology decision your business never had time to get right. We assess where you actually stand, then provide the independent advice and hands-on delivery to close the gap.

FROM THE FOUNDER

Bigger organisations have IT leadership built in. We built Cohesis so yours doesn't have to go without it.

Simon founded Cohesis in 2019, over 25 years into a career spent across large global consulting firms and smaller specialist practices. The pattern was consistent everywhere he worked. Bigger organisations had dedicated IT leadership shaping every major decision.

Growing businesses were making decisions of the same scale and consequence with none of that oversight, and often nobody experienced enough in the room to say what was actually going on underneath.

Common symptoms

You know your business needs independent technology advice when…

The software you chose three years ago is now the reason growth feels harder, not easier.

More than one implementation has delivered less than what was promised.

A bigger client asks for security or compliance evidence you don't have, and can't produce quickly.

Nobody internally can tell you, with confidence, whether your current setup still works at double the size.

Your team re-enters the same information into three different systems, and nobody's counted the hours.

IT keeps the lights on. Nobody's connecting it to where the business is actually going.

Every major technology decision waits on whoever happens to be free that week, not on a plan.

Most of this starts to surface in the first conversation. An ICT Health Check is usually the fastest way to see the full picture.

What We Do

What Cohesis does for growing businesses.

Cohesis is a Perth-based, independent technology advisory and implementation firm working with ambitious businesses across Australia and internationally that have outgrown their current systems. We start by finding out where a business actually stands. Then we recommend the right technology strategy for where it’s heading. We deliver the systems, integrations and governance needed to get there, all under one contract with our own Agendis team, not handed off to a separate developer. Clients typically come to us without an internal Chief Information Officer, needing independent, experienced judgement on decisions most technology vendors have too much at stake to give honestly.

Independent assessments

Know what's actually holding you back before you spend on fixing it.

Most growing businesses have a rough sense that something isn’t working. What they don’t have is a structured, independent view of where the actual risk and inefficiency sits, or which platform or supplier is quietly costing them the most. Every engagement starts here, not because it’s the biggest sale, but because the recommendation is only as good as the assessment behind it.

ICT Health Check

A structured review of what's actually running versus what you think is running. Timeframe depends on the size of the business and how quickly your team can engage, from a few weeks for a focused review to a few months for a full environment. What you get either way is a prioritised, honest picture to act on. The relationship usually starts here.

Vendor & MSP Selection

Independent evaluation of the suppliers and platforms bidding for your business. No commission on what gets chosen, so the recommendation is only ever about fit.

Essential Eight Assessment

Measures your security posture against the ACSC's framework, giving you a defensible answer when a client or insurer asks how seriously you take cyber risk.

Strategy and planning

A roadmap first. Advice on tap once you know where you're going.

Once you know where the gaps are, the next question is what to do about them, in what order, and on what budget. We build a prioritised plan, help your team adopt whatever changes it, and for businesses who want that oversight kept current, provide ongoing vCIO advice without the cost of hiring it permanently.

Technology Roadmap

A pragmatic, budget-aware plan tied to your growth goals, not a wishlist. Sequenced so the business knows what to fund first, and what can wait, without pretending money's no object.

Digital Strategy Development

A coherent direction before you commit spend, for businesses about to make a technology decision they can't easily undo.

Change Management

Structured adoption support, because the technology only pays off once people actually use it.

vCIO Leadership

Once the roadmap exists, some businesses want that oversight kept current. vCIO gives you executive-level technology accountability on a retained basis, without carrying the cost of a full-time hire.

Custom development

One consultancy that plans the strategy and builds the software.

Most consultancies do consulting or technology. We do both. Where a platform like Xero or Teamwork gets you most of the way, we implement it. Where nothing off-the-shelf fits, or repetitive work needs automating, our Agendis team builds it, from bespoke applications to AI agents that handle the routine work.

PowerApp Development

Bespoke applications built around your exact workflow, inside the Microsoft 365 environment you already have.

API Development

Connects the systems that don't talk to each other, so your team stops re-entering the same data twice.

Power BI Dashboards

Real-time visibility into the numbers that matter, replacing manually built reports nobody trusts by the time they're finished.

AI Agents & Automation

Custom AI agents built into your existing systems, handling repetitive work like data entry, reporting or routine enquiries, without ripping out what you already use.

Governance

Evidence that holds up when a bigger client asks for it.

Winning larger clients increasingly depends on proving security and governance you’ve never had to formally document before. We help you work out what standard you’re actually being held to, put the evidence in place, and keep it current as the business and the requirements both keep moving.

ICT Governance & Compliance

Frameworks and policies that hold up when a bigger client, an insurer, or a board asks how technology decisions actually get made.

ICT Risk Management

Identifies where technology risk is quietly accumulating, before it becomes the reason a deal stalls or a client walks.

Microsoft 365 apps

These are Cohesis products, built by our Agendis team.

AgendisRISK, AgendisHR and AgendisTIME run entirely inside the Microsoft 365 environment you already have. No new software, no separate logins, no third-party hosting. Agendis is our internal technical team, not a separate company. These are also the only systems on this page we license ourselves, and we'll always tell you so.

AgendisRISK

Real-time risk, compliance and governance visibility. Works with any document containing risks, actions or decisions, including reports from other providers, not just Cohesis assessments. Implementation is guaranteed in 21 days.
A professional vCIO demonstrates the AgendisRISK interface on a laptop screen featuring interactive risk heatmaps and compliance registers in a modern office.

AgendisHR

HR lifecycle management from onboarding to offboarding, automated inside Microsoft 365.

AgendisTIME

Time and attendance with built-in award interpretation and direct Xero Payroll integration.

All three applications are licensed through Cohesis. You can work with us without using any of them.

Why Cohesis

We have vendor relationships. We do not have vendor-influenced advice.

Independent where it counts

We take no commissions and no referral fees on any third-party system we recommend. We are not a managed service provider either, so when we review your MSP we are not reviewing a competitor. We do license our own Microsoft 365 apps, including AgendisRISK, and we will always tell you so. What we never do is put our own product into a selection process as though it were the neutral outcome of a comparison.

Over 25 years across every sector we serve

Advice built around what your business is actually judged on, not a generic framework.

We'll tell you when the answer is “don't”

Sometimes the right recommendation is to change nothing yet. That's the one thing a vendor selling you something can't say.

Ready to Move Forward

You know something needs to change. You just haven't had anyone to plan it with.

Common Questions

FAQS

Not if you have access to the leadership a CIO would provide. Most growing businesses don't need a full-time CIO and can't justify the cost of one. Our vCIO service gives you senior technology leadership on a retained basis, without that overhead.
We work alongside them, not over them. We provide the strategic direction and senior guidance. They continue managing day-to-day operations. It gives leadership confidence the big decisions are being made properly.
Yes. We assess where you stand against the standard actually being asked of you, most often the Essential Eight, then help you build the controls and put the evidence in place.
Yes. We assess where the friction is, design the right integration approach, and connect your systems so the business runs on accurate data with less manual effort.
A consultant typically solves a specific problem and leaves. A vCIO provides ongoing strategic leadership on a flexible, retained basis, knows your business, and makes technology decisions in the context of where it's going.
We have vendor relationships, like any technology firm. What we do not have is vendor-influenced decision-making. We receive no commissions or referral fees that would bias our recommendations.
Most engagements start with a focused assessment that takes weeks, not months. From there, the work is sequenced to match your pace rather than adding another demanding project to a stretched team.
Pricing depends on the scope of the engagement. We scope every engagement before quoting, so you know what's involved and what it costs before committing. A 30-minute call is the right starting point.
